The Saxon Phonics program is introduced at the kinder level. It stresses letter, sound and word recognition. This program easily provides extra skill work for the slower student, and at the same time, allows the faster child to continue on. Because of daily phonics drill, and other factors, many of our kinder children quickly begin to read.
The Everyday Math Program is used to introduce and teach math skills and concepts in kindergarten. During the spring semester, the curriculum progresses from the concrete to the symbolic stage of math development by writing the numbers, counting items on paper and writing addition and subtraction combinations.
There are many special kindergarten events that take place throughout the year, such as feasts the children help prepare, special PTFA performances, field trips and class parties. Special emphasis is placed on loving God, family, and others. Programs such as computer, music, library, Spanish, art, and PE enhance the first year of the formal learning process.
