Language Arts and phonics are expanded and enriched in the elementary years. Reading is tailored to meet the needs of all students. Believing that “students learn to write by writing”, students write original stories, narratives, persuasive writing, descriptions, etc. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills are fundamental as students use them in the writing process.
Every Day Math is the math curriculum used in third grade. This advanced program enables students to study at grade appropriate levels, while challenging them to develop higher-level thinking skills.
Science classes explore the wonders of God’s creations in topics from life, earth, and physical sciences. A hands-on approach is used to teach scientific methods. The regular text is supplemented with many resources including the use of our outdoor classroom. Surrounded by the beauty of our campus, students learn gardening, bird watching, insect exploring, and animal habitats.
P.E., Spanish, art, music, computer and weekly library visits enhance the formal learning process. Additionally, many special events take place throughout the year such as field trips that coordinate with unit studies, special performances, and class parties. Some extra curricular activities are offered to our third grade students such as basketball.
