The language arts curriculum includes spelling, language and reading. We teach word meanings in the context of stories. Students are encouraged to write original stories and poems. In addition to using readers, the students also read selected novels.

Everyday Math is taught in all elementary grades at CHS. New concepts are introduced and reinforced through review in order to keep the students focused. The different subjects that are covered in the 4th grade are plants, animal behavior, food chains, basic chemistry, electricity and magnetism, light and sound, weather, landform changes, oceanography, the solar system and the human body. Many experiments and demonstrations are used to help the students grow in the knowledge and appreciation of what God has created.

The curriculum which includes history, geography, culture and economics of Texas is supplemented by field trips to the rich historical and cultural sights in South Texas.

Bible is taught daily. The students study the New Testament, focusing on the life of Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit and the life and writings of Paul.
