Electives
The following is an overview of electives that may be offered at CHS:
Spanish I, II, III, & IV
Students are exposed to both written and oral communications with an emphasis on vocabulary and grammar. They are introduced to cultures of Spanish-speaking locations.
Theatre
Students learn acting, costume, make-up and design principles and apply their knowledge to productions.
Art I
Four basic strands--perception, creative expression/performance, historical and cultural heritage, and critical evaluation--provide broad, unifying structures for organizing the knowledge and skills students are expected to acquire. They express their thoughts and ideas creatively, while challenging their imagination.
Career Connections
Achieving proficiency in decision-making and problem solving is an essential skill for career planning and lifelong learning. Students use self-knowledge, educational, and career information to set and achieve realistic career and educational goals.
Child Development
Knowledge and skills related to child growth and development equip students to develop positive relationships with children and effective parenting and caregiver skills. Students use these skills to pursue careers related to the care and education of children.
Advanced Band
Composed of musicians who have mastered the fundamentals. Advanced Band members have the opportunity to perform at least 2 concerts a year, as well as at special school occasions.
